Despite the loss, University Pathways Medical Magnet still got an impressive performance from Gianna Benitez, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Benitez scored a full 66.7% of University Pathways Medical Magnet's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mia Munguia, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
University Pathways Medical Magnet's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Compton, their victory bumped their record up to 1-14.
University Pathways Medical Magnet will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fulton at 3:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Fulton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Compton will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lakewood at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
