Basketball Recap: Venice Skates Past Gahr with Ease

Venice strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They claimed a resounding 64-26 win over the Gahr Gladiators. While the Gondoliers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Venice found their leader in freshman Amiya Aldridge, who almost dropped a triple-double with 18 points, nine boards, and 12 steals. Aldridge is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least seven every time she's taken the court this season. Inez Williams was another key player, shooting 73% from the field en route to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Venice's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Gahr, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Venice will venture away from home to take on Palisades at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup will give the Gondoliers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Gahr, they will face off against Gardena at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
