Preview: Sutter Huskies vs. Marysville Indians

The Sutter Huskies will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Marysville Indians at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sutter scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They had just enough and edged Twelve Bridges out 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Sutter has posted yet this season.

Torrence Harter was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 17 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. Harter is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Reet Bains was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Marysville waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Bear River 64-49.

Demi Boykin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with five assists and five steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Krystal Briggs, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

The win makes it two in a row for Sutter and bumps their season record up to 10-11. As for Marysville, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Wednesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Sutter have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 35.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Marysville, though, as they've been averaging only 39.2 rebounds per game. Given Sutter's sizeable advantage in that area, Marysville will need to find a way to close that gap.

Sutter was dealt a bruising 55-26 defeat at the hands of Marysville when the teams last played on January 3rd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Boykin, who scored 21 points along with eight steals and two blocks. Now that Sutter knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
