Basketball Recap: Kianna Lefear and Topanga Tusantoso Secure Win for University City

University City won the last time they faced Mira Mesa and things went their way on Thursday too. The University City Centurions managed a 37-31 win over the Mira Mesa Marauders.

University City was led to victory by Topanga Tusantoso and Kianna Lefear. Tusantoso went 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points and five steals, while Lefear posted 15 points and five rebounds. Tusantoso is becoming a predictor of University City's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 9-15 when she doesn't).

University City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why Mira Mesa lost, don't look at Ivorii Seals. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. Seals is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

University City's record is now 12-15. As for Mira Mesa, they dropped their record down to 15-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, University City will take on San Diego at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Diego will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something University City surely won't give up without a fight. Mira Mesa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
