Softball Recap: St. Anne-Pacelli Wins Going Away Against Columbus

St. Anne-Pacelli was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Columbus on Monday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 9-0 victory. Considering the Vikings have won six matchups by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Bella Mcbride made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, Leah Jimenez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Madison Green was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

St. Anne-Pacelli kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

St. Anne-Pacelli's record now sits at 8-9. As for Columbus, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13.

Coming up, St. Anne-Pacelli will be playing at home against Strong Rock Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Columbus, they will head out to take on Sumter County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.81 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
