Basketball Game Preview: Kensington KENSINGTON TIGER vs. Roxborough Wolves

The Kensington KENSINGTON TIGER will square off against the Roxborough Wolves at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Kensington's defense has only allowed 18.5 points per game this season, so Roxborough's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Kensington is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Abraham Lincoln just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 35-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Railsplitters. The loss put an end to the KENSINGTON TIGER's undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Roxborough beat Science Leadership Academy 28-24 on Wednesday. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Science Leadership Academy are ranked 580th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kensington better keep an eye on Jaylah Holmes. She was instrumental in Roxborough's win, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. Holmes is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played dating back to last season. Gabrielle Austin was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Roxborough is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Kensington, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

Kensington and Roxborough were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in March of 2021, but Kensington came up empty-handed after a 45-44 loss. Can Kensington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
