Softball Recap: LaFayette Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but LaFayette ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the Ringgold Tigers 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Ramblers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Marlie Day spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emma Parker, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Tamra Yancy also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The victory got LaFayette back to even at 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. LaFayette will welcome Northwest Whitfield at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ramblers are facing the Bruins at the right time seeing as the Bruins are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Ringgold, they will host Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
