Football Recap: Montgomery Bears vs. Kingwood Park Panthers
Montgomery had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 28-26 victory over the Kingwood Park Panthers on Saturday.
Damion Taylor was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Reggie Williams was another key player, rushing for 53 yards and a touchdown.
Montgomery wouldn't let Kingwood Park keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Chase Abrantes was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance. His also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing two fumbles and making 13 total tackles. Keilan Carver was another major factor on D, making nine total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending three passes.
Montgomery will head out to challenge Caney Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kingwood Park, they will host Dayton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
