Baseball Recap: Washington-Wilkes Comes Up Short

Washington-Wilkes managed to slip by Towns County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Washington-Wilkes lost 16-6 to Towns County on Friday. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 15-14.

Ty Lamar made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Reed, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Washington-Wilkes' defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Towns County, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington-Wilkes will take on Lake Oconee Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Oconee Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Washington-Wilkes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Towns County, they will face off against Lincoln County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Towns County is facing Lincoln County at the right time seeing as Lincoln County is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
