Soccer Game Preview: Western Dubuque vs. Kennedy

For the first time this season, Western Dubuque will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to challenge the Kennedy Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Western Dubuque's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

On Tuesday, Western Dubuque came up short against Xavier and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, Western Dubuque can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa soccer rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Xavier are ranked 24th).

Meanwhile, Kennedy also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Dubuque Senior by a score of 3-1. Kennedy have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kennedy's loss dropped their record down to 3-8-2. As for Western Dubuque, they now have a losing record of 4-5-1.

Western Dubuque suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Kennedy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
