Baseball Recap: Commerce Comes Up Short

Commerce was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Athens Academy Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, with their most recent loss being a 8-0 defeat on Thursday.

Commerce's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Athens Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-7.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Commerce will take on rival Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Athens Academy is set to face off against their familiar foe Rabun County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
