Basketball Recap: Sierra Gets the Win

If Oakdale wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Sierra, they should've done a better job of containing Mya Everett. The Sierra Timberwolves walked away with a 52-41 victory over the Oakdale Mustangs on Tuesday thanks in part to Everett, who went 10 of 14 on her way to 25 points along with five blocks and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Zalunardo, who posted five points in addition to nine steals and seven assists. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game.

Sierra's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Oakdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Sierra will head out to square off against Manteca at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oakdale, they will welcome Golden Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oakdale is facing Golden Valley at the right time seeing as Golden Valley is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
