Baseball Recap: Midway Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, Midway finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They came up short against the Ayden - Grifton Chargers, falling 7-1. The matchup marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Midway saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Tew, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Midway moved to 13-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Ayden - Grifton, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2.

Looking ahead, Midway will look to defend their home field on Friday against Rosewood at 6:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 4, the Eagles 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Ayden - Grifton, they are taking a road trip to take on Tarboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.79 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
