            Football Recap: New Mexico School for the Deaf Roadrunners vs. Elida Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            After flying high against Floyd  last Thursday, New Mexico School for the Deaf came back down to earth. The Roadrunners took  an  87-83 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elida Tigers on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game  last Thursday (60), the Roadrunners still had to take the loss.
 New Mexico School for the Deaf's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Santiago Lopez, who picked up 228 receiving yards and four  scores, and also rushed for 78 yards and a pair of  TDs on only eight carries. Lopez's longest reception was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. Another signal caller making a difference was  Tyler Todorovic, who threw for 337 yards and five  touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt.
  Cason Norman went supernova For Elida., rushing for 317 yards and ten  scores while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also picking up 30 receiving yards. Those  ten  rushing touchdowns gave  Norman a new career-high.  Chase Aguiri was another major influence, as he rushed for 65 yards and ran in a TD.
New Mexico School for the Deaf's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Elida, the  victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. New Mexico School for the Deaf is set to  take on  their familiar foe Roy/Mosquero  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Elida will  square off against  rival Floyd  at 1:00  p.m.  on Friday.
