Basketball Recap: Greater Johnstown Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Greater Johnstown waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 50-40 victory over the Richland Rams. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Richland's loss came despite strong showings from Trinity Macey and Lanie Marshall. Macey posted 12 points along with seven boards and five steals, while Marshall had seven points in addition to ten rebounds and four blocks. Marshall has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Fetchko, who went 5 of 11 en route to 10 points.

Greater Johnstown's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Richland, they moved to 7-3 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Greater Johnstown and Richland should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Greater Johnstown (ranked 128th) will meet Somerset (ranked 451st) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Richland (ranked 151st) will meet Westmont Hilltop (ranked 410th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
