Soccer Recap: Effingham County Takes a Loss

Effingham County fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Lakeside on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lakeside Panthers by a score of 2-1. The Rebels were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Effingham County and nudges their season record down to 2-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-0 Evans (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 83.3% over those games). As for Lakeside, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Effingham County is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Greenbrier at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakeside, they will face off against Evans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Evans will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Lakeside surely won't give up without a fight.
