Basketball Game Preview: Homestead Mustangs vs. Lynbrook Vikings

The Homestead Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Lynbrook Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Homestead will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, Homestead didn't have too much trouble with Wilcox as they won 55-38. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Mustangs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Chargers are ranked 670th).

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Lynbrook and Santa Clara, and Santa Clara kept the tradition alive. The Vikings fell 40-36 to the Bruins on Wednesday. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bruins 12-8 in the first quarter.

Lynbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Homestead, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.

Everything went Homestead's way against Lynbrook when the teams last played back in January, as Homestead made off with a 46-24 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
