Soccer Game Preview: Polytechnic vs. Mayfield

Polytechnic hasn't had much luck against Mayfield recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Cubs at 3:30 p.m. Polytechnic will be strutting in after a victory while Mayfield will be coming in after a loss.

Polytechnic was handed a three-goal defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Chadwick a 1-0 shutout. Polytechnic haven't had any issues with Chadwick recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Mayfield was a bit more limited in their match on Wednesday. They fell just short of Flintridge Prep by a score of 1-0. Mayfield haven't had much luck with Flintridge Prep recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Polytechnic's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Mayfield, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7-3.

Polytechnic beat Mayfield 3-1 when the teams last played on January 13th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
