Softball Recap: Omaha North Comes Up Short

Omaha North was the 14-2 winner over Bryan when they last played one another on Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Vikings fell 6-2 to the Bears on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by exactly four runs.

Lydia Liekhus was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases were her first of the season.

Omaha North now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Bryan, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Omaha North has already played their next contest (against South Sioux City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Bryan, they will square off against Omaha South on Thursday.
