Football Game Preview: Jackson Heights Cobras vs. Rossville Bulldogs + Official Tickets

Jackson Heights is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Rossville is on an eight-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Cobras will welcome the Bulldogs on Friday. Jackson Heights' defense has only allowed 5.5 points per game this season, so Rossville's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Jackson Heights is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 21-14 win over Riverside [Wathena/Elwood]. 21 seems to be a good number for the Cobras as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Drake Mellies had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 108 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 217 yards on only 17 passes. Brody Browning was in the mix as well, providing Jackson Heights with two scores.

Meanwhile, Rossville beat St. Mary's-Colgan 27-20 on Friday. The 27-point effort marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Jackson Heights better keep an eye on Canann Mitchell. He was instrumental in Rossville's win, rushing for 100 yards and a pair of TDs, while also throwing for 163 yards on 14 of 25 attempts. Mitchell's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. Landen Lewis was another key player, gaining 133 total yards.

Jackson Heights' win bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Rossville, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.

Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Mellies and Mitchell. Mellies just won't slow down this season and has averaged 137.9 passing yards per game. Mitchell has been a dominant force too and has averaged 134 passing yards per game.

Jackson Heights came up short against Rossville when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 42-38. Thankfully for the Cobras, Tayson Horak (who threw for 277 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 69 yards and one score) won't be suiting up this time.
