Softball Recap: Westview Wins Going Away Against Burke

Westview got themselves on the board against Burke on Saturday, but Burke never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Bulldogs. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Pyper Stortz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in September of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Westview let Jill Kripal and Ava Simmons run wild. Kripal went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Simmons went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Kripal has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrianna Moore, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Westview's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Burke, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Westview and Burke will both be playing Columbus the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Discoverers at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Wolverines will play them later in the day, at 10:30 a.m.
