Basketball Game Recap: Minarets Mustangs vs. Washington Union Panthers

The Minarets Mustangs couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. Their tough 53-29 defeat to Washington Union on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. Minarets lost against Washington Union in their previous head to head back in November of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 62-11 score last time.

Washington Union found their leader in underclassman Jade Holland, who scored 19 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Holland has scored at least 25% of Washington Union's points. Another player making a difference was Makayla Hayes, who scored 14 points.

Minarets' defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Washington Union, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Minarets will head out on the road to face off against Yosemite at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Washington Union will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Immanuel at 5:30 p.m. on November 30th.
