Basketball Recap: Canon-McMillan Big Macs vs. Upper St. Clair Panthers

Canon-McMillan and Upper St. Clair squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Canon-McMillan had to settle for second. They lost to the Upper St. Clair Panthers on the road by a 46-32 margin. While losing is never fun, the Big Macs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Panthers are ranked ninth).

Despite the loss, Canon-McMillan saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Faye Saunders dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. That's the most points Saunders has posted since back in November of 2024. Olivia Ross also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Canon-McMillan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matchups.
