Preview: Potter Valley Bearcats vs. Point Arena Pirates
The Potter Valley Bearcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Point Arena Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Potter Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Potter Valley's 12-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were beaten by Laytonville 60-18 on Friday.
Meanwhile, Point Arena put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They breezed by Calistoga on the road to the tune of 56-24. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-8.
Potter Valley bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Point Arena, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Potter Valley against Point Arena in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 62-34 win. Does Potter Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Point Arena turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
