Soccer Game Preview: Cedartown vs. Rome

Cedartown is 0-3 against Rome since February of 2015 but things could change on Saturday. The Bulldogs will challenge Wolves at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cedartown's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Pepperell 5-0. Cedartown haven't had any issues with Pepperell recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Cedartown hit Pepperell with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jason Ramirez (2), Yahir Pineda, Tony Peinado, and Edgar Bermudez.

Meanwhile, Rome came tearing into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.4 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Yellow Jackets with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's two games straight that Rome have won by exactly three goals.

Rome's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those five games. As for Cedartown, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

Cedartown suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Rome in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
