Basketball Recap: Maywood Academy Comes Up Short

Maywood Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 53-24 loss at the hands of the Maywood CES Wolfpack. The Nighthawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-4.

Maywood CES found their leader in freshman Carmen Lilly, who posted 19 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lilly has scored at least a third of Maywood CES's points. Another player making a difference was Samantha Ortiz, who had ten points.

Maywood Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Maywood CES, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.

Maywood Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 41-40 defeat against Sotomayor on the 22nd. Maywood CES has also already played their next contest, a 40-36 loss against Marquez on the 22nd.
