Soccer Recap: Mission Bay vs. Otay Ranch
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Coronado, Mission Bay was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Otay Ranch Mustangs 2-1. Lyla Anglin had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Mission Bay.
Mission Bay was without their leading scorer, Ava Fabrega, in Thursday's match. With Fabrega sidelined, the Buccaneers had to make some big changes to the lineup. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Tristyn Anderson (80), Valerie Young (80), and Alison Jones (80). The trio had averaged 60, 33.3, and 58.8 minutes respectively before Thursday's matchup. The pair took full advantage of the opportunity: Young scored a goal, while she put up two assists.
