Volleyball Recap: Genoa Area Comes Up Short

Genoa Area lost against St. Joseph Central Catholic back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Comets fell 3-1 to the Crimson Streaks.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-11, 25-16.

Makenna Moritz paced Genoa Area's offense, picking up 15 kills. Moritz also shared the team's lead in assists with Lucy Schlageter: they picked up 13 each. Finally, Riley Sinift kept Genoa Area's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Leading St. Joseph Central Catholic to victory were Sophia Klos and Bella Stout. Klos had ten digs and six aces, while Stout had seven digs and five assists. That's the most assists Stout has posted over her last eight matchups.

Genoa Area has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.

Genoa Area has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Otsego on the 30th. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Hopewell-Loudon on the 30th.
