Softball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short

After flying high against Heritage on Monday, Chaparral came back down to earth. The Wolverines fell just short of the Legend Titans by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. The Wolverines were not able to make up for their defeat to the Titans from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Evie Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Keegan Freitas also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Legend, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Chaparral will square off against ThunderRidge at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. Legend does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
