Baseball Recap: Hiram Takes a Loss

Hiram was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Woodland Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 last Tuesday.

Jacob Ramirez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Hiram's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 3-14 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was James Strickland, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Hiram's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Woodland, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Wildcats beat Hiram by a score of 15-0 later that day.
