Basketball Recap: Palm Springs Comes Up Short

Palm Springs lost against Palm Desert back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Palm Springs Indians lost 46-20 to the Palm Desert Aztecs. The Indians were down 38-12 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Palm Springs lost, don't look at Eiresslee Wells. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. Wells has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times she's played.

Palm Desert's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Katelyn Gallagher, who posted ten points and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Naomi Plunkett, who scored ten points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Palm Springs has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season. As for Palm Desert, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palm Springs will challenge Rancho Mirage at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Palm Springs is facing Rancho Mirage at the right time seeing as Rancho Mirage is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
