Softball Recap: Buena Vista Comes Up Short at Home Against Omaha North

Buena Vista unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Omaha North Vikings on Thursday, falling 19-11. The Bison were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Gwyn Revis was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Revis was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Briley Hike was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Hailey Vincent, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Buena Vista wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-1 defeat against Duchesne/Roncalli on the 21st. As for Omaha North, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-0 loss against Elkhorn North on the 22nd.
