Baseball Recap: Wheeler Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Wheeler's offense. They lost 7-0 to the Etowah Eagles on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Wheeler got a good showing from Chase Greenwood, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, Greenwood didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Etowah, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Etowah beat Wheeler by a score of 12-2 later that day.
