Basketball Game Preview: Northwood Timberwolves vs. Buena Park Coyotes

The Northwood Timberwolves will head out to face off against the Buena Park Coyotes at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Friday, Northwood ended up a good deal behind Laguna Beach and lost 54-37. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 919th, while the Breakers are ranked 442nd).

Meanwhile, Buena Park had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They breezed by the Jaguars to the tune of 80-52. The Coyotes pushed the score to 64-40 by the end of the third, a deficit the Jaguars had little chance of recovering from.

Buena Park pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.2 points per game. As for Northwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season.

Northwood came up short against Buena Park in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, falling 61-50. Can Northwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
