Basketball Game Preview: Futures Knights vs. Sacramento Waldorf Waves

The Futures Knights will face off against the Sacramento Waldorf Waves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Futures came up short against Forest Lake Christian on Friday, falling 44-20. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last nine times they've met.

Emma Kharchenko put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted eight points in addition to 22 boards and five steals. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nikole Vinokurov, who earned two points along with 13 boards and six steals.

Even though they lost, Futures smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Sacramento Waldorf waltzed into their matchup on Friday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They really took it to the Patriots for the full four quarters, racking up a 40-13 win. Given the Waves' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 574th, while the Patriots are ranked 1230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sacramento Waldorf pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.0 points over those games. As for Futures, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.
