Baseball Recap: Lampeter-Strasburg Victorious

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Lampeter-Strasburg ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Manheim Central Barons 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Barons: they've now won three in a row.

Cooper Hillen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hillen was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Lampeter-Strasburg got a great performance from Devin Aponte as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Tipping, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

Lampeter-Strasburg's record now sits at 18-6. As for Manheim Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.
