The Shaw Raiders will head out to challenge the Callaway Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Shaw barely beat Sumter County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Shaw's way against Sumter County on Tuesday as Shaw made off with a 17-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Shaw got a massive performance out of Deshaun Mays, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Shaw is undefeated when Mays posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sincere Ford, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Shaw was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sumter County only posted a batting average of .333.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Callaway ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Whitefield Academy, sneaking past 11-10. The Cavaliers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jeremiah Staples was incredible, going 2-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he brought in this season. Brody Swanson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Callaway's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 2.8 runs. As for Shaw, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Shaw has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Callaway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
