Baseball Game Preview: Bruce Red Raiders vs. Webster Tigers

The Bruce Red Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Webster Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bruce is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

If Bruce beats Webster with nine runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Red Raiders came out on top against Winter/Birchwood by a score of 9-5 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their matchups with Winter/Birchwood: they've now won three in a row.

Ryder Rodewald made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rodewald was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Stevens, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and four runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.

Meanwhile, Webster came up short against St. Croix Falls on Monday and fell 12-9.

Bruce's record now sits at 11-6. As for Webster, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Everything went Bruce's way against Webster in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Bruce made off with a 9-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
