Basketball Recap: Norfolk Takes a Loss

Norfolk played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Marian Crusaders 65-31. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost four in a row.

Norfolk's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Makenzie Peterson, who posted 11 points, and Maddilyn Finneran, who earned 12 points and five boards.

Marian found their leader in sophomore Alivia Kuhn, who shot 80% from the field to rack up 19 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Lauren Carlsen, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Norfolk now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Marian, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Norfolk will take on Lincoln Northeast at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Marian, they will face off against Elkhorn South at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
