Baseball Recap: Newton Falls Victorious

Newton Falls came out on top against Maplewood on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Rockets. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by just one run.

Newton Falls saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Persin, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Persin has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Newton Falls hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maplewood struck out eight times.

The win got Newton Falls back to even at 11-11. As for Maplewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Newton Falls beat the Rockets by a score of 3-0 later that day.
