Basketball Game Preview: Chino Hills Huskies vs. Rancho Cucamonga Cougars

The Chino Hills Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Rancho Cucamonga took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Chino Hills, who comes in off a win.

Chino Hills is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by St. Lucy's to the tune of 64-20 on Wednesday. With the Huskies ahead 33-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Chino Hills got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brianna Franco out in front who posted 18 points along with six boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Franco a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Salce, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Chino Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Rancho Cucamonga entered their game against Etiwanda on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Rancho Cucamonga was beaten by Etiwanda 82-36. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-21.

Rancho Cucamonga's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-3. As for Chino Hills, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-9.

Chino Hills suffered a grim 52-32 defeat to Rancho Cucamonga in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Chino Hills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
