Softball Recap: Columbus Comes Up Short

Columbus made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Norfolk, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Discoverers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 17-15 on Tuesday. The Discoverers have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Kyrstyn Long stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Olivia Hill, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Norfolk, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-18.

Coming up, Columbus will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Kearney at 5:00 p.m. The Discoverers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bearcats have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. Norfolk does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
