Basketball Recap: Escondido Comes Up Short

Escondido lost against San Marcos back in December of 2017 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Escondido Cougars were outmatched by the San Marcos Knights and fell 74-18. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 934th, while the Knights are ranked 294th).

When it comes to explaining why Escondido lost, don't look at Anaya McGlory. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 10 en route to 11 points.

Escondido's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9. As for San Marcos, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Escondido has already played their next match, a 57-16 defeat against Santa Fe Christian on the 20th. As for San Marcos, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 85-6 win against Ramona on the 21st.
