Football Game Preview: Sinton Pirates vs. Calallen Wildcats + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Mykha Green and Ricardo Rodrguez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sinton Pirates will square off against the Calallen Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sinton's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

On Friday, Sinton didn't have too much trouble with Miller as they won 35-20. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Pirates' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 402nd).

Sinton can attribute much of their success to Sean Hughes, who picked up 82 receiving yards and one TD. Hughes also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles and defending two passes.

Meanwhile, Calallen waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 43-36 victory over the Pirates.

Calallen's win came from a few key players Sinton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Drayson Gamez, who picked up 109 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 61 yards. Those 61 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another receiver making a difference was Reese Rusher, who picked up 101 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Calallen, racking up 13 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Ian Perez: he added nine points with three field goals and another four kicking extra points.

Sinton's record now sits at 5-0. As for Calallen, their record is now 4-1.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Sinton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 284 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Calallen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 238.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Sinton strolled past Calallen in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 27-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
