Soccer Game Preview: Madison vs. Mira Mesa

Madison is 0-5 against Mira Mesa since January of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Madison Warhawks will venture away from home to challenge the Mira Mesa Marauders at 6:00 p.m.

Madison fell victim to Canyon Hills and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They lost 4-0 to the Rattlers. While losing is never fun, the Warhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 755th, while the Rattlers are ranked 163rd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mira Mesa). They never let Kearny onto the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Wednesday. The result kept the Marauders happy, as they haven't lost a game since December 11, 2024.

Mira Mesa's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those seven games. As for Madison, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Madison suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Mira Mesa in their previous meeting back in February of 2017. Can Madison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
