Softball Recap: Pike County Comes Up Short

Pike County and Morgan County squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Pike County had to settle for second. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-2 to the Bulldogs, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost seven in a row.

Pike County's defeat dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Morgan County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season.

Pike County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Morgan County, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Appling County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
