Basketball Recap: Sonoma Valley Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sonoma Valley can now relate to. They took a hard 66-47 fall against the Encinal Jets on Wednesday. The Dragons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jets earlier this season, when they won 45-30.

It was another big night for Jazzy Alcantar, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 11 boards for Encinal. Alcantar has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Surina Castro was another key player, going 6-for-11 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Sonoma Valley's loss dropped their record down to 18-13. As for Encinal, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Sonoma Valley has already played their next match, a 48-36 victory against Sonoma Academy on the 1st. As for Encinal, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-48 defeat against Head-Royce on the 1st.
