Recap: Cameron County Raiders vs. Austin Panthers
If the Cameron County Raiders were riding high off their 46-14 takedown of the Galeton Tigers last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Cameron County took a 45-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Austin on Tuesday. Cameron County lost against Austin in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 56-51 score last time.
Cameron County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ava Hilfiger, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hilfiger has scored all season. Trinity Earle was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Cameron County bumped their record down to 1-2 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season. As for Austin, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cameron County will be home for the holidays to greet Otto-Eldred at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Otto-Eldred focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Austin, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Galeton at 6:00 p.m. Galeton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 14 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
