Basketball Recap: Peninsula Skates Past Eastlake with Ease

The third road match was the charm for Peninsula, as they earned their first road win of the season. They claimed a resounding 49-19 victory over the Eastlake Titans. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Titans are ranked 844th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the defeat, Eastlake saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ari Ruperto posted seven points along with 11 boards and four blocks. Those four blocks set a new season-high mark for Ruperto. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalila Ouedraogo, who earned two points.

The win got Peninsula back to even at 6-6. As for Eastlake, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Peninsula wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-51 victory against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary on the 28th. As for Eastlake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-31 win against Sage Creek on the 28th.
