It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Douglas ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sahuarita Mustangs, sneaking past 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Mustangs on Monday, they had to take a 6-4 loss.

Isidro Hoyos was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Hoyos was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.

Hoyos wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jose Ivan Higuera, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Douglas is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sahuarita, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-4-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Douglas will take on rival Rio Rico at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sahuarita is set to square off against their familiar foe Cholla at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
